How do I pay at these shops, and is it secure? - Top
Some shops allow for international money orders and checks, but the ordinary way of paying at these shops is of course online by credit card.

Visa
Mastercard

Some shops require international customers to pay via PayPal, which you can join if you have a visa card.
International Shopping is save because shops commonly use the latest in SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to secure your personal information when submitting an order. Standards have been set by two companies. When you see their logo's on a site you know it's safe to buy there. Many stores choose not to display the logo's.

Verisign
Thawte

Who will deliver the goods I buy? - Top
The goods you buy are delivered by international mail services:
UPS International
TNT Express
United States Postal Service
Airborne Express
DHL Worldwide Express
Federal Express
Royal Mail

Most shops will calculate the shipping costs and ask for approval before they charge your account. Shipping costs vary greatly depending on your location and the size and weight of your order. Overseas surface delivery usually takes 4-6 weeks, but may take up to 11 weeks and more. Air delivery is a lot faster but also more expensive.

Do I have to pay custom taxes on delivery? - Top
You are responsible for custom charges, so when your package is held in customs and taxes are set, you have to pay them on delivery. (Some international mail services services take care of custom charges for you). Whether or not your package will pass customs without taxes cannot be predicted.
If you want to know exactly how much the goods you buy will cost you in case you have to pay custom taxes, you have to contact your local customs office for further information.

By the way, the goods you buy are accurately described for customs, whether you have them packed as a gift or not.

How do I know that there isn't a better deal? - Top
Some companies (mainly US) allow you to earn rebates on purchases made via their site. This is of course an interesting option if you are a frequent buyer. bCorner, one of these American shopping malls, offers rebates at a large number of shops you'll find here. A list of these stores can be found here.

Dealfinders will help you find the cheapest stores: Shopping.com and dealtime uk

Do these shops really ship to every corner of the globe? - Top
No, not really. The shops listed here offer international shipping, but most shops only ship to countries the country they reside in has diplomatic relations with. This means that countries like North Korea, Irak and Iran are often excluded.
Another restriction has to do with fraud. Some shops have experienced several cases of fraud from certain countries and have decided not to ship to these countries any longer. Thus Nigeria is often put on a black list.

Which goods can't I use where I live? - Top

Stores will mostly indicate clearly which items are not available for export.

Electronics   Not all countries share the same voltage standards. When you buy electronic products from countries that have other standards than your own, you should have a look at the technical specifications or make inquiries about it. You may have to buy a voltage converter. More information on voltage standards and converters can be found on rsmtravelsite.

Voltage converters are exported worldwide by dvdoverseas.com

Video and DVD   There are 3 video standards:
  • NTSC, used in America and Canada;
  • PAL, used in Australia and Western Europe
  • SECAM, used in Eastern Europe and France
Video's recorded in one standard can't be viewed on a player in another standard, unless you use video converters.

DVD's do not only follow a video standard, they are also encoded for one of the following regions:
  1. US and Canada
  2. Japan, europe, South Africa and the Middle East
  3. Southeast Asia and East Asia
  4. Australia, Central and South America
  5. India, former Soviet Union and Africa
  6. China
DVD's for one region can't be played on a player for another region, but if you buy a multi region dvd player, you should be able to watch most dvd's. There are some major exceptions though, in which case you'd have to buy a multisystem television next to your codefree dvd player. Video converters, codefree dvd players and multisystem televisions are exported worldwide by dvdoverseas.com

Can I put links to these shops on my site and earn money? - Top

You can earn some money if your site has 1000 visitors a month. Join third parties like Commission Junction and choose a few stores you want to promote:

Why can't I see all shops advertised on this site? - Top

When you run a program that blocks ads, it is possible that you don't see all advertisments presented on this site. For instance, when you run Norton's Personal Firewall and have it configured to block ads, you don't see the Linkshare ads on this site.
